Angry Songs About Food Vol. 4: Cereal - OnCue (prod. by CJ Luzi)

Whenever I hear this song I picture a group of really huge dudes eating bowls of Berry Berry Kix and nodding their heads in time. If I made the music video it would include multiple slow motion shots of spoons coming out bowls, milk dripping off the utensil sensually, before a tongue flicks into frame and tosses a single piece of cereal soaring up in the air and down into a mouth guarded by grill plastered teeth.

The track is a preview from Brooklyn based rapper OnCue's upcoming album Angry Young Man, and boy has that become even more of one to watch out for after this CJ Luzi produced explosion. To indulge your own sexy cereal fantasies (or you know, nod your head in personal sacrificial solidarity and resonance as that's really more what the song is about) you can grab a download of the song for free off of OnCue's Soundcloud here.

Angry Songs About Food Vol. 3: The Giant Hot Dog That Ate Regina

Of course it's not really the song that's angry, but I have to assume that the giant hot dog was pretty miffed about SOMETHING if he's going to eat a whole town. I think he's just dealing with the frustration over being so delicious and not being able to eat himself, a problem hot dogs often have.

Anyhow this non-angry song about an angry hot dog is by children's music entertainer and educator Bob King. Bob made his musical debut in the wonderfully named band Kornstock in the seventies before gravitating towards family entertainment and educational albums.

Amongst his other works are a collection of songs about small towns and cities on the Canadian prairies and the novelty hit 'Sandwiches Are Beautiful.' He now mainly does work with the children's record label Casablanca Kids while wearing amazing hats.
Seriously. A-mazing hats.

Angry Songs About Food Vol. 2 - Birthday Cake

Cibo Matto like writing songs about food. I could fill up many more volumes of ASAF focusing squarely on the howls and beats laid down by Yuka Honda and Miho Hatori. However 'Birthday Cake' is probably the angriest, and really that's what's important. Granted they're not angry at the birthday cake, but then it's hard to be mad at birthday cake.

The song is probably about a mother making a cake for her son on his thirtieth. It's also a violent recipe. But it's mainly about Shutting Up and Learning To Eat.

Angry Songs About Food Vol.1 - Cranberry Blues

I present to you the first in what will be an ongoing series: Angry Songs About Food.

Today! A gentleman singing a song about cranberries and DAMMIT HE'S UPSET ABOUT THEM.

But let's be serious for a moment: In 1959 there was a deadly cranberry shortage. Cranberries from all over Oregon and Washington were covered in bad herbicide. Rats definitely died. People may have died. Thanksgiving exploded. Probably. Which of course lead to the creation of Cranberry Blues by Robert Williams and The Groovers!
